'American Idol' Recap: Shocking Results as Jessica Sanchez Has Lowest Votes & is Saved by the Judges

Last night's American Idol episode was teased as being shocking and that a favorite contestant was the one who received the lowest one of the night. Who could it be?
After a very fumbling group number of Pink's 'Raise Your Glass,' Ryan Seacrest got down to business. The Top 7 week is known for splitting the contests into two groups of three and and then having the seventh person having to choose which group they belong in. It is all referred to as "The Huff" since George Huff in season three was the first person forced into this uncomfortable predicament.
OK! NEWS: AMERICAN IDOL RECAP: SKYLAR LAINE AND JOSHUA LEDET SHINE ON HITS FROM THIS DECADE NIGHT
Skylar Laine was the one chosen to be put in this place as she was asked to choose between a group of Hollie Cavanagh, Phillip Phillips and Colton Dixon, and the other group of Jessica Sanchez, Joshua Ledet and Elise Testone.
Skylar made the best choice possible, she refused. And we loved her for it and she just headed back to the couches. This girl cracks us up, one of the many reasons we adore her.
But Skylar was not allowed to sit down as Ryan pulled her back to center stage and told her that she belonged with the group of Hollie, Phillip and Colton and they were all safe.
Wow!! Jessica, Joshua and Elise were all in the bottom 3, especially shocking since Jessica had never been there. We weren't completely shocked and flabbergasted like everyone else though because yes, Jessica does have an amazing voice, but she has no emotional connection and not enough personality to make viewers want to call in like crazy for her.

But we knew the minute they announced that Elise and Joshua were safe, that Jessica would be saved no matter what. There was no way the judges were going to let Jessica go. However, she still had to sing for the save. As Jessica started to belt out, she was interrupted as judges Jennifer Lopez, Randy Jackson and Steven Tyler stampeded the stage and said she was being saved. Well, duh. And it all seemed a little bit staged to us. We knew Jessica wasn't going anywhere.
Let's not forget about the musical performances of the night. Season 10 finalist James Durbin returned to the Idol stage to sing "Higher than Heaven" and we just love how James has been able to stick with his heavy-metal roots, while Jennifer Hudson took the stage with Ne-Yo to perform their duet "Think Like A Man." And can we just say that Jennifer looks even more incredible every time we see her. But she could have done without those weird backup dancers.
Next week, we still have a Top 7 and each one will sing two songs! A lot of music ahead! Plus, American Idol winner Kris Allen returns to perform his new single "The Vision of Love" on the results show, and hot group LMFAO will rock the stage as well! Don't miss a minute of Idol next week on FOX.
