
'American Idol' Winner Phillip Phillips Admits: "I Came Close To Dropping Out"

Phillip Phillips has had well-documented health problems throughout his journey on American Idol. Although no one would have blamed him for leaving the competition, he never did.
Today during a conference call, Phillip admitted for the first time that he did seriously consider dropping out.
“It was rough at times. There was time I thought about getting out and getting the surgery done," he revealed.

“I had a lot of great doctors, a lot of great people who helped me through it, so I was blessed to have that.”
“Yeah like I said, I came close to dropping out to get the surgery done," he added, "but the doctors helped me out a lot through it.”

Phillip also said that he wasn't sure when he was undergoing surgery yet, but that he would be just fine for the start of the American Idol tour this summer.
