
Andy Griffith, 'Matlock' Star, Dead at 86

Andy Griffith has died at the age of 86.
The adored actor, whom the world fell in love when he starred as Sheriff Andy Taylor on The Andy Griffith Show, died today in North Carolina, the actor's friend Bill Friday told WITN News.

The beloved comedy ran from 1960-'68 and introduced us to a young Ron Howard, who played Andy's son, Opie. Don Knotts also starred as the hysterical deputy Barney Fife.

Andy lated returned to the spotlight with the detective series Matlock, which was a huge fan favorite and lasted almost 10 years, from 1986-'95.
