Ashlee Simpson on Being a Mom: I've Grown Up
Sept. 9 2009, Published 9:38 a.m. ET
Ashlee Simpson might only be at the 20s part of Redbook's October "20s, 30s, 40s" issue, but the Melrose Place star says being a mom has given her a new sense of maturity. "I’ve grown up so much. The great thing about being pregnant is that you have nine months and it really does prepare you," she says of being a mom to son Bronx, with husband Pete Wentz.
"Your body is changing, and it’s such an amazing time to feel that connection," she adds. "I did prenatal yoga, which was a nice way to mellow down and focus on me and Bronx. Being pregnant was the healthiest I’ve ever been in my life. Except for the cupcakes."

Sister Jessica Simpson might have more free time, but Ashleey says she doesn't envy her -- it's the other way around!
"She’s always saying, 'Oh, I want a baby!' Being a mom’s so empowering and incredible," adds Ashlee. "I’m one of those people who believes that life brings things to you at a certain time for a certain reason, and if you just go with it, that’s where the best moments come from."
The issue also features Alicia Silverstone and Connie Britton, and hits stands Sept. 22.
