In what sounds like the perfect mixture of Twilight and True Blood (minus the vampires), the latest young adult novel to come to life, Beautiful Creatures, has all the makings of the next big screen teenage hit.

Young love? Check. Romantic southern setting? Check. Supernatural powers? Check.
Based on the book by Kami Garcia and Margaret Stohl, Beautiful Creatures takes place in a small South Carolina town chock-full of secrets and Gothic charm. Lena Duchannes (played by Alice Englert) has a super power she tries to conceal from her family. Meanwhile, Ethan Wate (played by Alden Ehrenreich) dreams of a beautiful girl nightly, meets Lena and feels a mysterious draw to her. Is she the girl in his dreams?

The movie is filming in New Orleans and co-stars Viola Davis, Emma Thompson, Jeremy Irons and Emmy Rossum. Beautiful Creatures is slated to hit theaters right in time for Valentine's Day in February of 2013.
