Avril revealed to the world on HELLO! Canada this week that she and Nickelback frontman, Chad Krueger, were engaged after only six months of dating and flashed an impressive 14-carat engagement ring.
Today UsWeekly tapped a jewelry expert, Michael O'Connor, who marveled at the rock and estimated the ring costs more than a quarter million dollars due to its "vintage glamour" and unusual stones.

"The half-moon diamonds are also rare since they would have to be specially cut to fit on either side of the center diamond. The center diamond is approximately 10 carats, with and additional 4 carats of total side diamonds," he told the magazine.

The duo, who met after she employed Chad to help with her fifth studio album in February, haven't set a wedding date and are instead enjoying the engagement period.
