Known for keeping her private life just that, private, Beyoncé rarely opens up to media. So it came as a slight surprise when her recent Gotham magazine cover story quoted her as saying she was headed towards a breakdown.
"My life is definitely not perfect… Along with everything great, there are sacrifices," she tells Extra in an interview airing tonight. "I wouldn’t say I was on the verge of a breakdown. That’s a very strong thing to say.”

As for whether the magazine got it wrong and misquoted her, Beyoncé says, "Maybe. I have been before."
One way she avoids being misquoted is by staying out of the spotlight when it comes to her private life, including details of her relationship with rap superstar and husband, Jay-Z.
“I reveal myself in my music," she explains. "That’s my therapy.”
