Actor Ben Gazzara passed away at the 81 on Friday, new reports reveal, after a long career starting in television in the 1950s and moving onto the big screen with famous films such as the Big Lebowski.

The Huffington Post reports that the Strange One actor died in NYC after struggling through a battle with cancer.

Ben left behind wife Elke Krivat, whom he wed in 1982 after two previous marriages.
