Billy Joel Confirms Alexa Ray Joel is Doing Fine

After a shocking 911 call was placed to the Manhattan home of Christie Brinkley’s daughter Alexa Ray Joel on Saturday afternoon and she was rushed to St. Vincent’s Hospital in NYC for a possible suicide attempt, the 23-year-old’s father Billy Joel comes forward to reassure everyone she is doing fine according to Hollywoodlife.com.

Billy explains to Newsday that, “She is going to be just fine,” as reported by Hollywood life.com although he decided to remain in Sag Harbor rather than go to visit Alexa in the hospital.

A close friend of the family explains just why Billy steered clear of the scene according to Hollywoodlife.com.

“Billy didn’t go so it didn’t become a circus atmosphere,” the friend explains to New York’s Daily News, but, “was in constant phone contact.”

And although Billy Joel and Christie Brinkley have been divorced for some time now and maintain a great relationship, Alexa’s mother couldn’t keep herself away from the medical center.

Hollywoodlife.com reports that Brinkley visited St. Vincent’s at 4:20 PM on Saturday to be by Alexa’s bedside.
