Blake Lively: "I Don't Want to Play it Safe"

Blake Lively pulls out all with her modeling tricks talks about taking career risks for Marie Claire UK's October issue!

Blake may be known for her role on Gossip Girl, but the actress is ready to to take some risks with her work.

For starters, she's starring opposite Ben Affleck in the upcoming film The Town. Ben was so impressed by Blake's audition that he actually rewrote the part of Krista, a drug-addicted single mother, just for her.

"I'm on a very commercial show, so the last thing I want to do is a commercial movie," Blake tells Marie Claire. "I wanna take risks, I don't wanna play it safe. I mean, I could probably make more money if I did more commercial projects. It would be nice to buy an apartment but I'm 22 and I don't need to yet."

But she does play it safe when it comes to her relationship with Penn Badgley by not sharing too much.

"At the end of the day, you're just in any relationship," she says. "How does anybody go to work every day and come home? You just do it and it either works or it doesn't."

And when she's working she's focused, but also knows how to have fun. Blake even brought her Maltipoo Penny to her Marie Claire photo shoot!
