Gossip Girl star Blake Lively is swapping cable TV for the big screen — the Serena Van der Woodsen actress will play Ryan Reynolds' love interest in the upcoming Green Lantern.
Blake's character is Carol Ferris, a hottie who runs her father's aerospace company and hires cocky test pilot Hal Jordan (aka Ryan), says the Hollywood Reporter.
Hal later becomes the intergalactic policeman dubbed the Green Lantern.

In the comic books, the romance between Carol and Hal becomes tricky when an alien race gives her the power of a crystal called the Star Sapphire.
The role called for a slightly older actress but the 23-year-old impressed the studio with her audition and beat out rumored contenders like Keri Russell and Jennifer Garner.
