NEWSBrad Garrett: On the Prowl

Sept. 11 2008, Published 7:09 a.m. ET
Brad Garrett has a lot under his belt: 30 years as a stand up comedian, starring roles on two primetime hits – CBS' Everybody Loves Raymond and Fox's 'Til Death – and now he's adding an online series to his repertoire.
In Dating Brad Garrett, premiering on Crackle.com on Sept. 15, the divorced 48-year-old actor will go on dates with women picked by his ex-wife, urologist and mother, among others, from a pool of candidates.
But get that scene from The Bachelor out of your head – Brad tells OK! he's not looking for a wife, instead, he's playing off his comedy roots to create something he hopes viewers can laugh at.
"I come from the world of improv," he says. "I love any show or any vehicle that gives me an opportunity to be in the moment."
Unlike other reality shows that are semi-scripted and even have multiple plot lines, Brad says his online series will be totally different.

"These segments are totally a poor, helpless date and me in a room together," he jokes. "To me, the unscripted part of it was what really made it exciting, and made it experimental and hopefully gave it a feeling of reality."
So if he doesn't think he'll find love online, what kind of woman is he looking for?
"Someone who won’t run to the authorities, someone who understands that I’m just a big kid who has trouble growing up," he tells OK!. "It’s a sweat, I’m not going to lie to you, I’m a strong cup of coffee, at least that’s what the shrink keeps telling me."
