Brett Ratner, "Rush Hour" Director, Nabs Oscars Producing Gig

Hollywood director Brett Ratner has just landed a new gig — one of the producers of next year's Academy Awards!

Brett will take on his first involvement with the Oscar show with fellow producer Don Mischer, who produced and directed the 2011 Oscars and nabbed and Emmy nomination for his work, The Associated Press reports.

The academy president Tom Sherak made the producer announcement Thursday.

Brett is best known for both producing and directing X-Men: The Last Stand, Rush Hour and the pilot of TV's Prison Break.

The 84th annual Academy Awards will be presented on Feb. 26, 2012.
