Bridget Jones is coming back with her cigarettes, bottles of wine and, of course, her trusty diary!
Helen Fielding's latest book Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy will hit bookstores October 15, TODAY announced in a special sneak peek.
While Bridget famously battled her weight, made a mess of her love life and confronted a host of other issues in the 1996 bestseller Bridget Jones's Diary and Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason in 2001, 12 years later the awkward but lovable character is still single and battling a brand new aspect of her usual problems:
“You see, this is the trouble with the modern world," writes Bridget in an excerpt from the book. "If it was the days of letter-writing, I would never even have started to find his address, a pen, a piece of paper, an envelope, a stamp, and gone outside at 11.30 p.m. to find a postbox. A text is gone at the brush of a fingertip, like a nuclear bomb or Exocet missile.”
Bridget has come up with a new rule for her modern problem: “Do not text when drunk.”
