Could this be the beginning of the comeback for Britney Spears?
Last year's MTV Video Music Awards turned her into a laughing stock after that disastrous live performance.
But this time around Brit's actually being recognized for something good for once!
It has just been announced that her video for Piece of Me has been nominated for the big prize -- video of the year.
She's up against the Jonas Brothers for Burnin Up,' Chris Brown for Forever, the Pussycat Dolls for When I Grow Up and newcomers The Ting Tings for Shut Up and Let Me Go, according to NYTimes.com.

But if she picks up the top award at the ceremony in L.A. in September, it could kick start a great 2009 for the star, who says in the latest issue of OK! that she's fighting to get her career back on track.
The Toxic singer's already been nominated by fans for best pop video and best female video for Piece of Me.
The site also says that Spear could get a chance to redeem herself after last year's car-crash appearance on stage, because her people are said to be in talks with MTV about her performing again this year.
