Under massive pressure on her grueling new world tour, friends fear Britney Spears is hurtling toward another major meltdown.
Kicking off her Femme Fatale world tour in Sacramento, Calif., on June 16, Britney Spears impressed fans and critics alike with her high-energy 22-song extravaganza. While one friend insists, “Britney looks great and is doing great. She’s not acting strange and her tour is quite successful,” behind the scenes, other insiders are terrified that the troubled star is already falling apart.“Right now she’s under an incredible amount of stress, which has everyone worried,” an insider tells OK!.
SIGNS OF TROUBLE:Just weeks before the show, Britney, 29, began “bingeing on candy and fast food,” reveals the insider. “When she’s nervous, she overeats,” confirms a second source. In addition to her diet battle, Britney’s disheveled appearance shocked onlookers during a recent shopping trip to Sherman Oaks, Calif. “Lately she’s just totally stopped caring about how she looks,” notes the insider.
DOWNWARD SPIRAL:Britney’s self-destructive behavior has only worsened since hitting the road. “The anxiety of her tour is keeping her up at night,” the insider shares. With five tough months of touring ahead, the insider says, “something really has to be done” to get fragile Britney back on track.

HOW JASON IS COVER IT UP: Photographers captured Britney’s most shocking antics back in 2007, but her protective boyfriend, Jason Trawick, is intent on preventing a repeat performance — even physically blocking those who might take her picture. “He yells at us constantly and grabs our cell phones,” one snapper tells OK!. “It’s usually when she’s having a bad day.” Behind closed doors, sources say Jason’s teamed up with Britney’s dad, Jamie Spears, who still has conservatorship over his daughter. “They are keeping an eye on her
to make sure nothing goes wrong.”
IS HER LATEST VIDEO SATIRICAL OR SAD? Brit’s antics may be tonguein- cheek in her “I Wanna Go” video, but friends are worried the clip “exploits her personal pain.” One pal says, “It’s an artistic expression on one hand, but it’s a glimpse into how much rage she’s still dealing with, which is pretty scary.”
