Britney Vacations with Mel Gibson

Forget those rumors of Britney Spears and Kevin Federline getting back together!

The recovering pop star is off and away for a vacation with none other than Mel Gibson, Entertainment Tonight reports.

The two jetted off at 9:05 a.m. this morning to Costa Rica, where Mel has a vacation home. It is believed Brit’s father and co-conservator of her estate, Jamie, has joined them for the trip.

Not along for the ride? Her sons Sean Preston, 2, and Jayden James, 1, as Britney and K-Fed’s custody arrangement stipulates the pop star cannot leave the country without court approval.

While this pairing is odd, it certainly isn’t the first time Brit and Mel have convened. Malibu neighbors, the two at Romanov restaurant back in March, where Mel, 52, was reported to have dispensed some pearls of wisdom on how to deal with negative press to the 26-year-old.

"He understands what she's going through," a source told OK!. "And he certainly has advice on how to not let it destroy your life."
