Carrie Underwood Feels Sorry For Guys
Sept. 8 2008, Published 3:00 p.m. ET
Carrie Underwood meets and greets fans when she is on display for the CMA Music Festival. Her don’t-miss performance is a highlight of CMA Music Festival: Country’s Night To Rock, which airs tonight on ABC.
During her time in Nashville, the Last Name singer, 25, hosted a Fan Club party, went shopping, played softball for charity, performed and signed autographs.
How does she deal with the honesty of the fans?
“Oh, everybody’s been really nice about everything,” she says. “Of course, you’ll get personal questions in there that are a little awkward, but I think once you say ‘I don’t really talk about that,’ it makes them think ‘oh…I probably wouldn’t want to talk about that either.’ I think a lot of people might get really excited and ask questions that might be a little prying, a little personal, but then go ‘what was I thinking?’ But everybody’s been really great and supernice.”

Headlining the CMA Music Festival is a huge honor for the Oklahoma native, who won American Idol in 2005.
“Growing up, I went to tons of concerts, and it was one of the things I absolutely loved to do more than anything and wish I’d done more. But I know how they feel, and I know what I want to be. I just want everybody to have a really good time.”
She continues, “It’s one of those things when I see guys in the audience, I know their wives and girlfriends have dragged them there, and I kind of feel bad. They’re like this hands on hips, scowling the whole time. I want them to have a good time too! So it’s just trying to make everybody have fun.”
