The stars certainly shone last night at the 42nd Annual Country Music Association awards, and there were more than a few familiar faces.
Carrie Underwood, who also hosted and performed at the ceremony, won Best Female Vocalist for the third year in a row. The country darling, who's rocketed to stardom since winning American Idol, even moved her mom to tears when she took the stage to sing "Just a Dream."
"Mama, it's real hard to sing when you're in the second row crying," she teased.

Sugarland capitalized on their suprising win last year for Best Duo and nabbed that prize again to start their own string of wins. In 2007 fans were surprised when the twosome dethroned longtime winners Brooks & Dunn.
Country legend George Strait is used to toting him awards, and he also shocked no one this year by snagging the prize for Best Album for Troubadour, minutes after leaving the stage for his performance of "River of Love."
With all these repeat winners there weren't many surprises, but hey, if it ain't broke, don't fix it!
