Catching Up With David Blaine, Donald Trump

David Blaine and Donald Trump share an unlikely kinship. While David is a stuntman out to wow, Donald is a buttoned-up businessman.
But the friends actually go way back to when Ivanka’s dad buried him alive in 1999.
“I was there when they poured thousands of gallons above David,” Donald, 62, says. “David was in a grave. If that water collapsed, I don’t think there was any way of survival. I thought it was an amazing situation.”
They reconnected this week when David performed his latest stunt, hanging upside down for sixty hours at Trump’s Wollman Rink in NYC’s Central Park. What did David learn?
“You can actually drink water upside down, and you can eat upside down because the esophagus pushes everything up,” the 35-year-old daredevil says. “That’s pretty amazing.”
Why sixty hours?
“That was the length of time I was able to stay awake before hallucinating too hard when I was in a block of ice. I wanted to be able to not hallucinate out of my head, so I figured I could stay awake for about sixty hours before the hallucinations become terrible.”

Before others start thinking that they, too, can hang upside down like David, his personal doctor, Richard Ruden, offers a cautionary note.
“It is really important for everyone to understand that David is not an ordinary man,” Dr. Ruden says. “No one should do this at home. Irreversible brain hemorrhaging and blindness can occur.”
Donald admires his pal. According to Donald, David proves “You can do things in your own mind that you don’t think you can do.”
And what advice does Mr. Trump have for those struggling in our faltering economy?
“The only advice is to hang in, be tough, be smart, don’t do anything foolish, just hang in there. The economy is going to need time. It’s in very, very bad shape.”
