Feb. 3 2011, Published 11:19 a.m. ET
Charlie Sheen admitted "he has a lot of work to do" in his first statement yesterday since his downward spiral began to surface in the public eye — from partying with strippers to an alleged cocaine binge in Vegas to a scary 911 call. In that statement, Charlie compared his situation to that of legendary actor Errol Flynn — who died at the age of 50 from a heart attack believed to be brought on by a drinking binge in Canada.
As he thanked his fans and his CBS bosses for their support during this difficult time in statement, Charlie also referenced Flynn,an actor known for his womanizing antics as much as for his work."
'Like Errol Flynn, who had to put down his sword on occasion, I just want to say, "thank-you",' he wrote in the statement,
Flynn was known for his roles in films like Captain Blood, The Adventures of Robin Hood and The Sea Hawk, but off camera he battled with heavy drinking and got into some trouble with the law.

Flynn was accused of statutory rape by two underage girls in 1942.
He was cleared from charges, but still held a reputation as a womanizer and ladies man which led to a popular saying during the time, "in like Flynn," according to CBS news.
At the age of 50, he died of a heart attack after a binge-drinking episode.
Charlie, 45, has a reputation with the ladies as well — most recently his involvement with porn stars." He has also battled a cocaine addiction on and off throughout his career.
His decision to compare himself to Errol Flynn has everyone baffled as it is a little foreboding given his current situation.
