Chaz Bono Says 'Dancing With the Stars' Is a "Great Way to Further My Message"

Chaz Bono was revealed as one of the newest cast members of Dancing With the Stars Season 13, and Cher's son couldn't be happier! The LGBT activist opened up about his decision to join the reality competition after Monday night's big announcement.

"I thought that it would be a challenge, I for so many years was so uncomfortable, and since transitioning I feel so comfortable now I want to do something physically challenging and fun in that way," Chaz told reporters of why he wanted to join the show. "I thought it would be a great way to further my message I started with my book and my documentary."

He continued, "I thought it would be a fun experience, meet new people, it’s exciting I love the show."

When asked if any of his mom's powerhouse performance and dance skills rubbed off on him, Chaz simply said, "We'll see."

Cher found out the night before the announcement that her son would be involved and according to Chaz, his mom "thought it was great."

While celebrity dance pro pairings have not been revealed yet, Chaz did say that he is "so excited" about his partner.

"She’s great, she’s perfect for me, for you know, my needs and learning how to dance," he gushed.
