From stepping into William Shatner‘s shoes to play Captain James T. Kirk to following in some seriously A-list alpha male footsteps to star as Jack Ryan, Chris Pine is the latest Hollywood hunk to take on Tom Clancy’s CIA hero.

Unusually for a movie franchise, Jack Ryan has only twice been played by the same actor: Harrison Ford in 1992’s Patriot Games and two years later in Clear and Present Danger.

The role was originated by Alec Baldwin in 1990’s The Hunt for the Red October, and the last hottie to take on the role was Ben Affleck in 2002’s The Sum of All Fears.
