All eyes were on Boston this week as the city geared up to host their first marathon since the horrific bombing that marred the 2013 race. The 2014 Boston marathon was a safe, happy affair, with a very patriotic ending—the race was won by Meb Keflezighi, the first American male to win the Boston marathon since 1983!

It was no accident that Keflezighi finished first. His Boston accomplishment was not the first of its kind. The Skechers athlete was also the first American man to win the New York marathon since 1982, after his race in 2009. He is an Olympic silver medalist, and won multiple NCAA championships during his time at UCLA. Born in Ethiopia, he came to the US when he was 12 and immediately began an amazing running career.
