Cory Monteith More Nervous to Meet Oprah Than President

Cory Monteith might be one of the lead characters belting his lungs out on the hit show Glee, but he admits before his role as Finn on the FOX smash hit, he never sang. "I sang in the car, in the shower but never for anyone. That's scary," Cory told Entertainment Tonight.
"Originally I played the Tupperware drums to show my musical abilities, but I had to ultimately sing for the final audition so I had to figure out how to do that very last minute," he told ET about the audition process for Glee, in an interview airing tonight. "I never did sing growing up, so it's a change for me."
Fame has not tainted they modest young actor, who says he never expected to be cast in the musical series explaining, "When they picked me for the part I thought they were mistaken."
"I thought I was going to be swiftly recast and fired and deported back to Canada!"
Cory says his life has changed a lot since the success of the show, in all positive ways.
"It's happening to all of us in the cast at the same time so we're all trying to figure out how to navigate this new environment," he said. "We stick together. A few of the cast members live together. We really do like each other."
Being part of the monumental success of Glee does have its perks, and Cory says meeting President Barack Obama and Oprah Winfrey were two of the most incredible experiences.

"I was nervous meeting Oprah," he said. '"I think the security was tighter there than at the White House!"
The young Hollywood heartthrob is not dating anyone at the moment.

"I'm enjoying the single life," he explained.
Cory is very excited for co-star Jane Lynch's recent engagement.
"Congratulations to her! Her partner is wonderful, I've met her a number of times. I'm so very happy for them and I'd love to sing at their wedding," he quipped.
Tonight on Glee catch the highly anticipated "Power of Madonna" episode, where the cast takes on the Queen of Pop's extensive songbook filled with smash hits!
"I sing a mash-up with Lea Michele's Rachel Barry," Cory said.
What else do the new episodes have in store? A special tribute to KISS!
"I'm dressed up as Gene Simmons," Cory explained. "There's pyrotechnics and some pretty fantastic face paint. A fantastic episode."
