The War of Words is over! Anti-druggie Tom Cruise surrendered honorably to pro-druggie Brooke Shields at her home a year ago today, bringing the 15-month caustic feud to a not-so-emphatic end."He came over to my house, and he gave me a heartfelt apology," Brooke revealed the next day on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno. "And he apologized for bringing me into the whole thing and for everything that happened. And through it all, I was so impressed with how heartfelt it was. And I didn't feel at any time that I had to defend myself, nor did I feel that he was trying to convince me of anything other than the fact that he was deeply sorry. And I accepted it."Aww, well they say babies soften you up - their daughters, Suri and Grier, were born on the same day in the same floor in the same hospital. The mudslinging started in May 2005 when, in between the couch-jumping and makeout sessions with Katie Holmes, Tom condemned his Endless Love co-star for turning to drugs to bring her out of her post-partum slump following the 2003 birth of her daughter Rowan. And of course, the L. Ron Hubbard loyal went as far to bring an unsuspecting and innocent Matt Lauer into the mix.Brooke retaliated with a New York Times Op-Ed piece in July, reprimanding the actor for doing a "disservice to mothers everywhere."But what's a few harsh words when there's a "heartfelt apology" in the end?
