'Designing Women' Actress Dixie Carter Passes Away

Designing Women actress Dixie Carter passed away on Saturday morning at the age of 70.

"This has been a terrible blow to our family,” Hal Holbrook said in a statement regarding his co-star and wife according to E! Online.

And, without citing a reason for her death, Hal added, “We would appreciate everyone understanding that this is a private family tragedy.”

Dixie Carter was known for her role as Julia Sugarbaker in the CBS series Designing Women and recently starred as an abrasive mother-in-law on Desperate Housewives alongside Eva Longoria and Marcia Cross.
