DESTINY CALLS MICHELLE WILLIAMS TO 'PURPLE'

Former Destiny's Child star has been tapped to play sexy blues singer Shug Avery in the Chicago production of The Color Purple.This is just a dream come true, Michelle said. I could not pass up the opportunity to do 'The Color Purple.' To have the privilege of even auditioning was an honor for me.Michelle hails from Rockford, Ill., which is 80 miles west of Chicago. Her run begins April 17.This isn't the first time the 26 year-old singer has hit the boards. She starred on Broadway in the title role of 'Aida.'Destiny's Child broke up in 2005 so that its members could pursue solo projects. Her Chicago love runs deep: Michelle is a minority owner in the WNBA's Chicago Sky.
