Diane Sawyer to Interview Jaycee Dugard in First TV Appearance Since Her Kidnapping

Diane Sawyer has landed the first exclusive interview with Jaycee Lee Dugard. Jaycee was kidnapped at 11 and held captive for 18 years, before she regained her freedom.
ABC News announced yesterday, via The New York Times, that Diane, current anchor of ABC World News and veteran journalist, landed the first ever on-screen interview with Jaycee that is set to broadcast sometime in July.
Jaycee was approached by multiple news organizations, and Diane/ABC were the victors.
Last week, Phillip and Nancy Garrido, the couple who kidnapped Jaycee in 1991, were sentenced. Philip, 60, received a term of 431 years in prison. His wife, Nancy, 55, was sentenced to 36 years to life.
Jaycee wasn’t the only one whose life was turned upside down by her reappearance. Kidnapped at age 11, Jaycee is now 30 with two children —Starlet, 16, and Angel, 12 — both of whom were fathered by Phillip.

Jaycee has also made a book deal with Simon & Schuster to publish her story about the years she spent captive.
The book that was written without the assistance of a ghostwriter, a spokeswoman for the publisher said, via the NYT, and will be released on July 12.
