'Eclipse' Breaking Pre-Box Office Barriers: Biggest Domestic Release in History

Eclipse is already breaking box office barriers, just hours before the highly-anticipated brawl between Edward and Jacob hits theaters nationwide! The third installment of the Twilight Saga has earned its first record, making Hollywood history!
So what prize has the film won early in the game?
Deadline Hollywood reports Eclipse is currently slated to open in 4,416 theaters across North America, making it the single widest domestic release in Hollywood history.
Eclipse usurped the same record from the recent production of Marvel Studios and Paramount's Iron Man 2, which initially premiered in 4,380 locations.

Before that, box office powerhouse The Dark Knight held the record in 2008 with 4,366 theaters.
There is currently no official count of how many locations plan to launch Eclipse.
