Emily Mortimer Talks Leo, Family Bonding

Emily Mortimer joined Leonardo DiCaprio, Michelle Williams, Mick Jagger and a wet-haired Mira Sorvino at NYC's Ziegfeld Theatre Wednesday for the special screening of her thriller Shutter Island, but there was one person she longed to greet that day – her 1-month-old daughter, May.
Now that the British actress, who wed Alessandro Nivola in 2003, is the proud matriarch of a family of four, she says she feels co-star Leo is destined to find the same satisfaction she has discovered.
She predicts he will settle down soon – perhaps with girlfriend Bar Refaeli.
“Oh, I didn’t know he wasn’t married,” Emily says. “I’m sure that he will, yes, and be very happy.”
What is Leo really like?
“He couldn’t have been sweeter,” she tells me. “He’s incredibly down-to-earth. I was annoyed that on my first day working with the world’s most gorgeous movie star I had to play a stark raving lunatic with no makeup on, in a shabby hospital gown. I thought that wasn’t fair.”

Leo, Michelle, Mick and Mira aside, the Oscar de la Renta/Armani-clad star, 38, says she couldn’t wait to get home to the coos of little May.

“The new baby is so sweet,” she tells me. “It’s heartbreaking leaving her for the evening. I feel like it’s going to be such a long night, but I can’t wait to see the movie.”
Every day is a joy with the new addition.
“She’s smiling. She’s very advanced. She’s only a month old, but she’s very advanced.”
Still, welcoming May has been an adjustment for Emily’s son, Sam, 6, who is now a big brother.
“He’s being very, very sweet to her,” she tells me. “He’s very into the baby. He’s not so much into me being into the baby. I have to pretend not to like the baby very much or my son will get upset.”
Shutter Island is in theaters Friday.
