Enrique Iglesias Drops Britney Spears Tour Because of His Ego?

First it was announced that Enrique Iglesias would join Britney Spears on her summer tour, then he bailed, releasing a statement confirming he wouldn't be joining her. Some say there is still a chance, and it's just contractual issues holding Enrique back. Reportedly, the Latin American singer's "ego" is having a tough time sharing the spotlight with the beloved pop princess.
TMZ reports that Enrique bailed on the upcoming Britney concert tour "because his ego couldn't handle being her opening act."
Lawyers and agents from both camps were trying to reach an agreement for weeks, according to TMZ, and the terms were eventually hammered out so that Enrique, who is currently on tour right now, appeared to be a co-headliner. The agreement was allegedly made in time for Tuesday's announcement.
But Enrique allegedly went to the press, because he felt he was still Britney's opening act and he wanted out.
A source tells TMZ that the original deal was very "great terms and great placement" for Enrique, but allegedly the face of him taking the stage before Brit was something he was not happy about, forcing him to want out.
It seems now that unless Enrique is treated as a co-headliner, with all the benefits that Brit gets, he will not be taking part.

Billboard.com first reported that Enrique back out of the tour, and then followed up with a report suggesting that negotiations were being made to get Enrique back onboard.
The negotiations reported included money and the proper perception.
"Iglesias is a headlining artist and has been for some time, and would carry his own fully-themed production on the tour," the report said. "The language in the carefully worded press release — which was withdrawn from certain outlets shortly after it was sent today — stated the pair would 'tour together' but stopped short of calling it a 'co-headlining' tour, the phrase commonly used for such superstar pairings as Billy Joel and Elton John, for example."
Enrique's camp released a statement last night, which read, in part:
Unfortunately, Enrique Iglesias and Britney Spears will not be touring together. Despite initial reports based on formal discussions of the possible run, Enrique will continue on his solo tour in support of his new album EUPHORIA. Enrique has great respect for Britney and is a longtime fan of her work. He is very sorry for the confusion this might have caused to anyone.
