Ernest Borgnine, 'Marty' Star, Dead at 95

One of Hollywood's biggest and best character actors ever, Ernest Borgnine, has passed away at 95.

According to The Associated Press, the Academy Award winner worked right up til the end. One of the last among his 200 film and telvision roles was in the Bruce Willis action comedy, RED, two years ago.

In fact, five years ago he told the AP, "I keep telling myself, 'Damn it, you gotta go to work. But there aren't many people who want to put Borgnine to work these days. They keep asking, 'Is he still alive?'"

His career spanned seven decades and included classics like From Here to Eternity and The Wild Bunch, along with his sitcom work in McHale's Navy. In fact, his career was so illustrious that in 2007 he became the oldest actor ever to be nominated for a Golden Globe!

Ernest's wife and children were by his side when he passed away yesterday at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in L.A.
