Fashion Week Begins

A long day in the office put a damper on my first day of NYC Fashion Week festivities, but…
Wearing one of my favorite Charlotte Ronson summer dresses, I did make it to the Charlotte Ronson show- despite the NYC cab strike! A percentage of the taxis in New York began an ill-timed two-day strike today in protest of navigation systems. I think these are the same systems that they agreed to when hiking their rates 30% last year, but since I don’t know the specifics I won’t debate it, but…I guess while the cabs are on strike the ones who are driving can make up their own rates. A yellow cab pulled over today when I hailed it and actually told me it would be $50 to go 20 blocks! Seriously?! Finally I took a ride from a car service sedan, normally a rip off, but was happy with the $20 he charged for the same ride.
Once at the show things were great. I hung out backstage where they were serving scones and Ballatore sparkling wine while the models made themselves pretty, getting their faces painted with Flirt! Cosmetics- which everyone got to take home in their goody bags! When the show got started, a front row including cool rock band the Donnas, Sophia Bush and Rashida Jones were treated to 36 fun girly looks that you could tell just make a girl feel cute. A family affair, Charlotte’s younger sister Annabelle Dexter Jones walked in the show while Charlotte's twin sister Sam Ronson took care of the tunes – she switches manning the turntables for the Charlotte's fashion shows about every other season with her brother Mark Ronson – who DJed TomKat’s wedding!

Afterward I walked across the street to the W Magazine soiree where Jessica Simpson was for an hour ‘on her way.’ With so many other things to do and places to go, I skipped out halfway through- pulling away approximately four minutes before I received a text that Jessica had just arrived with her mane man Ken Paves. She came out to support stylists Britt Bardou and Jewels, even wearing their new line – Rose. Sources still at the party said, “She hung out and had a great time,” and she didn’t mention anything about her near run-in with ex John Mayer earlier that day at the Soho Grand.
Ok, car is here to take me to the airport for the Toronto Film Festival! Fun stories to come, guaranteed! Stay tuned!
