Glee's Darren Criss Performs Sold-Out Surprise Concert for Toys for Tots at Joe's Pub in NYC

After wrapping on long days on the Glee set before their holiday break and jetting across the country to perform at Lincoln Center for The Trevor Project on Saturday night, Darren Criss decided to throw a surprise concert for fans at Joe's Pub in NYC to benefit Toys for Tots.

On Saturday, Darren Tweeted his fans that there would be a concert on Sunday in NYC, but they would have to wait for details: "From the Glee set in LA straight to Lincoln Center in NY- Show tonight, then 2pm show tomorrow. Find out details at 9am tomorrow EST. Weee!!"

Then on Sunday morning, as devotees waited in anticipation, Darren Tweeted again telling them to come to Joe's Pub in downtown NYC. If they brought a gift for Toys for Tots and were one of the first 100 people in line, they would be treated to a concert by the man also known as Glee's Blaine Anderson.

The show sold out immediately, and fans were treated to quite a concert after opening act performances by Theo Katzman and Charlene Kaye. He did renditions of his own tunes including "Jealousy," that he kept forgetting the words to. As Darren put it, "This is what happens when you get two hours of sleep a night." Darren also treated the audience to many other songs, from "Part of Your World" from The Little Mermaid to a slowed-down piano version of "Teenage Dream," his very first song on Glee

OK! NEWS: GLEE'S DARREN CRISS TO GET SPIN-OFF?

Things aren't slowing down for Darren anytime soon. He starts rehearsals today for his Broadway debut as the star of How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying, taking over the role from Harry Potter star Daniel Radcliffe. Glee fans, fear not about having Blaine-less episodes when he is busy on Broadway for three weeks, as Darren told fans after the concert, "I will probably miss an episode, but you won't even notice."
