Just when the Gosselin children were learning to cope with the public demise of their parents' marriage, 9-year-old twins Cara and Mady and 5-year-old sextuplets Hannah, Leah, Alexis, Joel, Aaden and Collin are now confronting another loss: a forced hiatus from their TLC show brought about by dad Jon.

"They were wailing and sobbing; they are angry," Kate told the Today show on Oct. 5, referring to her brood's reaction to the news that Jon & Kate Plus 8 had been suspended.

Meanwhile, the estranged couple have been arguing over the hundreds of thousands of dollars Jon reportedly took from their joint bank account, leaving Kate with $1,000.

"I have a stack of bills," Kate said, adding that Jon has been making "erratic purchases and randomly buying things."

While Jon calls Kate's story a "complete fabrication," he does seem to be spending a lot of cash. During an August trip to Las Vegas, he dropped more than $600 on candy for his kids at the Mirage Hotel's Sugar Factory and was also seen gambling. "I'm not sure how much he spent," a source says, "but he had to go to the ATM afterward."

Despite wanting to keep his kids out of the spotlight, Jon seems to be seeking attention -- on a recent trip to L.A., Jon was spotted partying at the Chateau Marmont until 2 a.m.

"It was time to go home, but our group started talking about an afterparty," a member of his entourage reveals. "Jon said, 'I want to go to the party.' By the time we got there, the party was breaking up, but he stayed."

He’s not the only one acting questionably at times — Kate is also guilty of airing their dirty laundry, despite an earlier promise to keep things civil. And, while the pair have wounded each other with their words publicly, it’s the kids who’ll wind up hurt in the end.

“It’s contradictory to say ‘We have the children’s best interests at heart,’ then speak poorly about each other in the media,” parent educator Karen Deerwester tells OK!. “The children have a record of all this, and when they’re old enough, they’re going to see it.”
