Green Day's 'American Idiot': The Broadway Musical

Broadway meet Green Day! A stage adaptation of the rock band's Grammy-winning album American Idiot is set to open on Broadway in April.

Producers Tom Hulce and Ira Pittelman said Tuesday that American Idiot will open on Broadway April 20 at the St. James Theatre, the Associated Press reports.

The musical will tell the tale of alienated suburban youth and will feature lyrics by Green Day's Billie Joe Armstrong and a book by Joe and Michael Mayer, who directed the show.

The production's run last fall at Berkeley Repertory Theatre in California was sold-out.
