Gwyneth Paltrow admits she always misses her kids Apple, 4, and Moses, 2, and wonders what they’re doing when she’s away working, but she wouldn’t have it any other way.

“It is also nice to acknowledge that I am a woman, I’m an artist, I work and it’s part of who I am,” says the actress, 37, who has Iron Man 2 and King Lear in the works.

“Motherhood has changed me in every way. It changed everything from my DNA on up. My perspective is so much different and the way I spend my day is different.”

What are her rules?

“I always try to instill that they’re very lucky and most children don’t get the things that they get.  To be mindful and hopefully it will stick with them.”

When Gwyneth takes time out for herself, she indulges with acupuncture and massage.

She also likes to spend time in the kitchen whipping up smoothies for friends like Mario Batali, who can't get enough of her “fun” GOOP blog. What are her diet secrets?

He tells me, “She literally works out three hours a day. She is a machine. And she eats like a long-haul truck driver. I’ve seen her put away more food than I put away at a sitting. She likes to eat everything but meat. She eats no meat, no processed animals or birds. She loves fish, she loves vegetables, she loves pasta. She’s a great eater.”

For nights out, grandma Blythe Danner chips in to help out whenever she’s needed, such as when Gwyneth’s hubby Chris Martin is on the road with Coldplay. (This week they’re in Australia.)

What’s the best part of being a grandma?

“Being told how much you’re missed,” Blythe tells me. “I love that.”

She adds, “Gwyneth is brilliant. She’s an extraordinary mother. She’s wonderful. I’m very proud of her.”
