Haim Levine: Inside Charle Sheen's Anti-Semitic Rant
Feb. 25 2011, Published 5:39 a.m. ET
Charlie Sheen's smackdown of his former friend Chuck Lorre goes beyond being an insensitive jab. Charlie not only called the Two and a Half Men creator a "turd" and a"maggot" but also continued to call Chuck, "Haim Levine" (or Chaim Levine), an anti-semitic slur.
In two of his most recent rants, Charlie continued to call Chuck by his Hebrew name, Haim Levine.
According to the New York Times, Chuck was born Charles Levine and a Hebrew version would be Haim or Chaim, and his insensitive comment "struck executives at both CBS and Warner Brothers as anti-Semitic, according to an executive who had spoken with representatives of both companies."
Then CBS decided to discontinue production of Two and a Half Men for the rest of the season — Charlie, who claims to be sober and ready to work, was slated to return to set at the end of this month.

And as soon as he heard production was halted, Charlie fired back, via the following statement to TMZ, once again calling Chuck, Haim Levine.
What does this say about Haim Levine Chuck Lorre after he tried to use his words to judge and attempt to degrade me. I gracefully ignored this folly for 177 shows ... I fire back once and this contaminated little maggot can't handle my power and can't handle the truth. I wish him nothing but pain in his silly travels especially if they wind up in my octagon. Clearly I have defeated this earthworm with my words -- imagine what I would have done with my fire breathing fists. I urge all my beautiful and loyal fans who embraced this show for almost a decade to walk with me side-by-side as we march up the steps of justice to right this unconscionable wrong.
Remember these are my people ... not yours...we will continue on together...
Maybe Charlie is being misunderstood using the word to suggest Chuck return back to his Jewish roots and be proud of his heritage?
Unfortunately in the context of all his rants, we don't think that is the case.
