Howie Mandel Taken to Hospital

No, it's not some prank from his new practical joke show — or at least it had better not be — Howie Mandel was taken to the hospital Monday night to have his heart checked out.

However, contrary to earlier reports, the Deal or No Deal host did not suffer a heart attack, but is only being looked at by the doctors at St. Michael's Hospital in his hometown of Toronto on a precautionary basis.

"Howie is in the hospital being monitored for an irregular heartbeat," reads a statement released by reps for the 53-year-old. "Doctors expect him to be released and back to work tomorrow Tuesday... He did not have a heart attack."
