Indonesia has just endured two different natural disasters in the span of two days. A tsunami and an erupting volcano hit in separate regions of the Indonesia Monday and Tuesday, killing hundreds and displacing thousands, the New York Times reports. Justin Bieber has already reached out to his Twitter followers to lend their thoughts and prayers to the devastated area.
The tsunami was triggered by a 7.7-magnitude undersea quake and struck the Mentawai Islands late last night, killing at least 113 people and leaving hundreds missing, officials told the NYT.
Thousands were also left displaced.
The tsunami was followed by at least three eruptions from Merapi volcano in Indonesia Tuesday, forcing thousands of nearby residents to flee from the smoke. One person was killed and at least 10 people were injured, some with severe burns.
