Tiger Woods thought a kiss could change Elin Nordegren’s mind about pursuing a divorce. Instead, it became the final kiss-off. Although staffers usually chauffeur the couple’s children (daughter Sam, 3, and son Charlie, 16 months), between their parents’ homes, a source close to Elin says Tiger showed up at his estranged wife’s estate in Lake Butler, Fla., recently and tried to make amends in his own way.
“They met and spoke briefly when exchanging the children,” says the source. “She hasn’t let him touch her in several weeks but he moved in to kiss her and she let him. He asked if a divorce is what she really wanted. She said ‘yes.’ ”

Elin made it clear that their kiss changed nothing. “She didn’t feel a thing,” adds the source. “She said she really wished she did, but she no longer loves him. There’s really nothing left between them. But it’s funny that Tiger is just getting that through his head, now, in the 11th hour!” Despite Tiger’s serial philandering, it hasn’t been easy for Elin, 30, to close the door on her marriage.

When Tiger, 34, agreed to go to rehab, she tried to believe that their union might survive. But her hope that Tiger could change evaporated when his golf career resumed.

“His heartfelt words about his wife and family being a priority vanished,” says the source. “Once again, the evidence right in front of her face showed that Tiger was not a changed man — that he could never be.”

Now the couple is intent on finalizing their divorce by the end of summer, says the source, who adds that details will likely be kept quiet. However, Elin will probably walk away a very rich woman, with some reports saying she could receive as much as $700 million.
