Jake T. Austin is starring in the celebrity-packed new film from director Garry Marshall, New Year's Eve. The actor, 17, is best known for Wizards of Waverly Place, and he spoke exclusively with OK! about working on the film with co-stars Abigail Breslin and Sarah Jessica Parker.

So, how was working with mega-star Sarah Jessica Parker in NYC? Jake told OK! "She was incredible. She’s really mysterious, not someone who reveals too much about themselves personally. Once you get to know her, you discover that she’s a true talent, not only a great person, just a really great actress who makes you better just by acting with her."

He also learned a lot from the actress. "(I learned) just how to handle yourself in an environment like that. This was the largest-scale project I’ve done, so just learning how to handle yourself and learning from someone who has been doing it for so long."

"Basically just the ins and outs," he continued. "Filming in New York is different than filming anywhere else. She films here more then anybody so if there’s anybody you should listen to in regards to being on set here, it’s definitely Sarah Jessica Parker. I couldn’t have asked for anyone better to work with."

New York is also Jake's home, so he loved being able to sleep in his own bed. "(It was) nice for a change. Getting to do the film is great!"

His scene partner is an all-grown-up Abigail, who he told OK! was great to work with. They also have a lot in common since people have seen them both grow up on screen. "Yeah," he said laughing. "Probably her more than me, she's been at it for awhile. Remember Little Miss Sunshine?"

They also have a big kiss in the film, which can be seen in the trailer for the movie!

He told OK! that despite all the fanfare, it "wasn't awkward at all."
