New inductees to the Hollywood Walk of Fame have been announced! There are some who we can't believe don't have a star already (Ron Howard?!), and some rather surprising choices, as well (The Backstreet Boys?). Marg Helgenberger, who received a star last year, announced the names at the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel yesterday. All the celebs honored commit to pay $30,000 in costs and fees (which kind of takes the fun out of it, wouldn't you say?).
The inductees who made their mark in the movies include Ron, James Franco, Helen Mirren, Viola Davis, Javier Bardem and Rick Baker, a make-up artists whose credits include Star Wars and Men in Black. From the world of television: Ellen DeGeneres, Simon Baker, Bryan Cranston, Matthew Perry, Jane Lynch and Katey Sagal. Besides the Backstreet Boys, recording artists to make the cut include New Kids on the Block, Jennifer Hudson, Jane's Addiction, Usher and Thalia; posthumous stars will also be given to Janis Joplin and Luther Vandross. Olympia Dukakis and Penn & Teller were also recognized for their theater work, and Steve Harvey and "Shotgun Tom" Kelly for their contribution to radio.
No announcements were made regarding when the stars will be placed. Were you surprised with any of the inductees?
