Here's something we didn't see coming! Jane Pitt (yes, that Pitt — Brad's mother!) wrote a letter to her local newspaper. But that's not the shocking part.
In it, she slammed President Barack Obama for his stand on gay marriage and abortion, and in doing so, she endorsed Mitt Romney. Keep in mind that her son has been a champion of gay rights, so perhaps that's why the water cooler's buzzing this morning.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Jane wrote to the Missouri-based News-Leader, and indicated Obama is "a liberal who supports the killing of unborn babies and same-sex marriage."
Although the newspaper at first printed an editor's note that denied a connection between the person who penned the letter and the A-lister, they issued a second editor's note for clarification: "To clear up earlier confusion, the News-Leader has verified the letter writer is the mother of actor Brad Pitt and local businessman Doug Pitt."
According to the industry magazine, several months ago, in a cover story, Brad talked about his mom: "She's very, very loving — very open, genuine and it's hilarious becasue she always gets painted in the tabloids as a she-devil. There's not an ounce of malice in her. She wants everyone to be happy."
Sure, everyone's entitled to free speech, but Brad and Angelina Jolie have been so supportive of gay marriage — even stating that they won't get married until everyone in the country has the same right.
