Is Jen Pressuring John Into Marriage?
June 24 2008, Published 1:00 p.m. ET
Laughing and leaning over the table to steal kisses, Jennifer Aniston and John Mayer spent a romantic evening hidden in a back booth at Madeo in West Hollywood on June 17.
"Jen looked so lost in John," an eyewitness tells OK!. "She was so busy gazing at him she barely touched her food!"
Their cozy dinner was a farewell of sorts, as John left the next day to kick off the 10-day European leg of his world tour. Apparently, the former Friends star couldn't bear to be without her guy: On June 20, she departed Los Angeles for England, where John is set to perform a series of concerts this week.
Her overseas jaunt is further proof that Jen is serious about the singer-songwriter, and ready to take their romance to the next level with an engagement.
"I know Jennifer," a pal of the actress tells OK!. "And I'm sure she's already made it clear that she wants John to show her the ring!"
It's no surprise that Jen, just seven months shy of 40, wants to move things along. She's even taken to campaigning to meet John's parents in an effort to even further solidify their relationship.
"Jen knows how close John is to his family, especially his father, Richard," says John's friend. "She knows she'll have to win them over if she wants to make a life with John."
But John,30, isn't particularly enthusiastic about the idea.
"He's still getting used to the thought that he's in a committed relationship," the friend says. "If Jen were to meet Richard, they would probably get along famously — and that makes John nervous. Introducing a girl to the family is a big deal to John. It means things are really serious."

Still, Jen and John have been happily nesting and have spent several nights at her Beverly Hills home. But friends of the couple say Jen isn't giving up on a future with with her much younger beau and she's even started dropping some not-so-subtle hints!
"During an earlier dinner at Madeo on June 3, Jen sighed, 'Everyone always tells me I should be remarried with kids by now,'" John's pal says. "It wasn't exactly subtle, and John knew exactly what point she was trying to make."
Unfortunately, there may be a few snags in the actress's plans.
"For the past few weeks, she has been pushing John for answers on their future. He hasn't made any promises. Right now, John's focus is his career."
