Jennifer Hudson has come a very long way since her days as a semi-finalist on American Idol, winning an Oscar in 2007 for her work in Dream Girls and then suffering through the tragic deaths of her mother, brother and nephew in 2008. Now, the I Remember Me artist is ready to talk about how she found the strength to make her comeback to the industry in a new interview with NBC’s Dateline.

“Just the same as I hear my mother's voice in my head, I can hear my brother's voice in my head,” Jennifer revealed to Lester Holt via the Huffington Post of getting the courage to overcome tragedy from her passed loved ones.
The 30-year-old, now married to WWE wrestler David Otunga with a beautiful little boy, explained that it was the voices of her mother and brother that inspired her to move forward in times of doubt.

“I could hear my brother, like, 'Jennifer…' he would always say, 'Knock it off, Jenny,' if I was cryin' about somethin' or if I was upset, discouraged, mad, 'Jenny, knock it off.' That's what I hear in my head,” the Secret Life of Bees actress said in an interview set to air on NBC Jan. 8.

With the help of her family, Jennifer was able to realize that soaking in her pain would get her nowhere.
“I can either just sit here and mope around, or do what I know that would make them proud.' And that's what I did,” the doting mother gushed.
Jennifer made her debut back to music in February 2009, when she gave a riveting and very emotional performance of the National Anthem at Super Bowl XLIII in Florida.
