12 Things You Didn't Know About Jersey Boys (The Movie and the Musical)
Nothing this good has happened to Jersey since Melissa Gorga! This weekend, the movie version of Broadway musical Jersey Boys comes out, and clearly theater nerds and Four Seasons fans alike are pretty thrilled. Here's 12 things you need to know before seeing the movie about the show, the film version, its stars and tons more.

1. The show and thus the movie are based on The Four Seasons' rise to fame in the 1960's. All four guys were from—where else?—New Jersey.
2. There are 33 songs in the live version of Jersey Boys, 11 of which have made it to the Billboard Top Ten.
3. Because Frankie appears on his knees for the number, "Beggin,", the actor who plays him on stage gets a new pair of pants each week since they wear out so easily.
4. When auditioning for a role in the show, actors are not allowed to sing any songs from the show. They can sing Four Seasons songs that aren't featured in the show, though.

5. Jersey Boys won the Tony in 2006 for Best Musical, along with 3 other Tonys that year.
6. The real life Frankie Valli appeared in a season 8 episode of Full House along with his son, Francesco.
7. Jon Favreau was the first choice to direct the movie, but the gig ultimately went to Clint Eastwood.
8. Clint got his daughter, Francesca, a small role in the movie. Look out for her playing the hot blonde waitress!

9. Clint Eastwood didn't want any A-listers in the film. His casting call was for stage stars only, and that's exactly what he got.

10. Of the four main guys in the film, all except for Vincent Piazza (from Boardwalk Empire) appeared in the show's original production on Broadway in 2005. So clearly it was easy for them to sing the songs live when filming the movie, rather than lip-synch to a pre-recorded track.
11. Recognize the guy that plays Vito in the film? That's Steve Schirripa from The Sopranos and Secret Life of the American Teenager!
12. Amanda Seyfried's ex boyfriend Dominic Cooper was originally attached to the film but then dropped out.
