Arnold Schwarzenegger isn't the only politician dealing with a scandal. John Edwards is back in the news for his own indiscretions, as the Department of Justice has said he could be indicted for his alleged use of campaign donations to cover up his affair with Rielle Hunter.

There could be criminal charges brought against the former presidential candidate and North Carolina senator for "allegedly using campaign donations to cover up his affair with Rielle Hunter," MSNBC reports.

These allegations against John are not new, but he has continued to maintain that he did not use campaign money for the cover up, even though allegedly there is evidence to suggest he spent around $1 million from his campaign fund to keep Rielle and their secret hidden.

Allegations suggest that John used campaign funds to try hiding Rielle and their love child, a scandal uncovered by the National Enquirer in 2007. John allegedly spent around $1 million of campaign money in an attempt to keep Rielle a secret.

John and Rielle also bore daughter Francis Quinn Hunter Edwards, 2, during their tryst, all while he was married to the late Elizabeth Edwards — whom he had three children with and who passed away last year after a heroic 7-year battle with breast cancer.

She left everything to her children.

Radar Online reports that Andrew Young, the staffer who initially covered up John's indiscretions, took the blame for fathering the child and allowed Rielle to live in his house with his wife and children, will be the "star witness for the government."

Earlier this year there was buzz that John and Rielle were planning to get married, but his rep denied the reports.

Last year, Rielle opened up to GQ magazine about her love for John.

“I feel comfortable talking now, because Johnny went public and made a statement admitting paternity,” she said in the GQ interview about finally opening up on their relationship.

“I didn’t feel like I could ever speak until he did that. Because had I spoken, I would have emasculated him. And I could not emasculate him. He’s very supportive of me talking now.”

She also admitted to still being in love with him.

“I do know that I love him and that love is till death do us part, and probably beyond, she says. “We have a child together, so at the very least we will be co-parents together.”
