Broadway musical Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark has been shutdown once for two or three weeks and now reports say the director, Julie Taymor, may leave.

Last night several reports said Julie left the show, but a spokesman for the show, Rick Miramontez, told The New York Times on Wednesday that those reports could not be confirmed.
According to friends of Julie, the director is "deeply distressed" over disputes with the producers of the musical and her lawyers are expected to discuss her future with the show with producers on Wednesday.
Lead producers Michael Cohl and Jeremiah Harris, have decided that the show would benefit from an outsider's eye to overhaul the production, the NYT reports.

“In a calmer moment, when she’s had time to take a breath and get some wise counsel, I think Julie may find a way to still be part of the production,” a creative team members said.

Julie has worked on the production for the past nine years, so the team member said it's possible she left the show Tuesday night and rejoined Wednesday morning.
This person suggested that Ms. Taymor may well have quit the show on Tuesday night, yet might rejoin on Wednesday morning.
But Julie's friend said, “I think it will be hard for her to initially walk away, but I think ultimately she’ll see it as the healthy, inevitable, and only choice that she really has."
“Otherwise, she’ll just be making artistic compromise after compromise.”
Whether Julie stays or goes fromt he $65 million Broadway show, will be made in an official announcement expected this week.
